Upgrades

Either go to the 'Tools' menu and select 'Extensions' and then click the 'Find Updates' button.

XPI File Installation on Windows (general)

Drag the extension 'hyperwords.xpi' into any open Firefox window. Accept the installation, restart Firefox.

XPI File Installation on Windows XP

First drag the extension onto the desktop, then drag the extension 'hyperwords.xpi' into any open Firefox window. Accept the installation, restart Firefox.

Uninstallation

Go to the 'Tools' menu in Firefox and choose 'Extensions'. Highest 'Hyperwords' and click 'Uninstall'. When you re-start Firefox, Hyperwords will be gone.

In some rare cases this is not enough and then you need to find and delete the "hyperwords.jar" file. Usually it's located at:

On Windows:
/Application Data/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/xxxx.default/extensions/{9A752782-D706-479 b-98F8-3F66BF921692}/chrome/hyperwords.jar

On MacOSX:
/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/xxxxx.default/extensions/{9A752782-D706-479b-98F 8-3F66BF921692}/chrome/hyperwords.jar where "xxxxx" is a random string containing some letters and digits instead of "x".

Customization

To specify how Hyperwords should work, including how and when the menu should appear, go to Preferences in the menu itself.

Privacy

Hyperwords tracks usage statistics including what commands are use, but not including what page it was used on nor on what text and also never on who uses Hyperwords.
