The missing link by Jack Ventura, Friday, March 10 2006 I've been using HyperWords since several weeks, and I find it more and more practical and useful in my browsing, at the point I sometimes think it's a Firefox standard feature... in fact, it's THE feature that still was missing in the Web surfing experience, and now it's here. Welcome, HyperWords, and thumbs up for its smart developers!

Research facilitated by =dn, Friday, March 10 2006 As a researcher's tool, HW is the best of Firefox's current extensions (I've tried a few). It takes us forward into a Web2.0-like world without waiting for (X)HTML to implement the semantic web or for more APIs and web services to be implemented. Simply highlighting content is the current web page allows access to a huge number of 'downstream' services, eg search engines, dictionaries, mapping systems, translators, even parcel services. Heartily recommended!

On its way to being perfect by Tom, Tuesday, February 28 2006 As others have noted, extension is not perfect (yet); once customizable menus and more selection options are available, this will be an absolute must have for all FF power users. Its already replaced 2-3 of my extensions. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see this lightweight extension (27K??) become standard in future releases of FF.

Great extension by Rick Evans, Monday, February 27 2006 I'm not one to load every extension I read about. I check for new and upgraded extensions regularly. If something seems useful, I'll give it a try. If it works well and I use it regularly, it stays. If it doesn't work, or proves to be something I don't use, I uninstall it. Rather than look at 10 extensions that do 10 little things, I like the extensions that combine a lot of related function into one, well done extension. Hyperwords works and I use it daily. It puts a lot of functionality in a little package. I've uninstalled several other extensions because they're not necessary anymore. It is quickly becoming one of my favorite extensions. And, when they say "Help us shape the next version of Hyperwords," they mean it. I sent in a suggestion or two, got a reply, and changes will be coming in the next release. This extension is worth trying and if you try it, you'll keep it.

Hyperwords rocks! by Evan, Sunday, February 12 2006 I read about this extension a few days ago (don't recall where) and instantly realized that it sounded exactly like the feature I've dreamed of ever since first seeing Mosaic. Installed it and, sure enough, it is wonderful. Tonight I felt inspired to email the developers and tell 'em so. I included a couple of suggestions for making it even better. The company's CEO sent me a directly reply THREE MINUTES later -- at 3:20AM my time. So this company has software that's actually innovative and useful, great customer service, and it's free. I guess that means they'd never make it in the commercial world. :) Anyhow, check out Hyperwords. I'm sold on it.

Would like to see the custome menu working. for example would like to add other URLS and delete some I wouldn't use - yahoo stocks ( Stock quotes), google news, yahoo news, ect. I,m using this along with easy gestures and this extension can soon be my most used. 5 stars and a must download for every firefox user. May be even be able to organize the listing order.

Its an intuitive powerful extension that lets you do everything from search flikr to wikipedia to translate a foreign language page.

Excellent for Interaction by Gagan Kaul, Friday, January 27 2006 Hyperwords is a great tool for interacting with the stuff that you come across online. The extension enables you to perform searches across multiple search engines, blogs or send an email. I like the user interface but the only problem that needs to be sorted out is that the moment I select text, the menu pops up. Might be a distraction for people who do too much copy paste. If you are comfortable with that, then just get this. You will love the functionality this offers.

A little bit tricky when I need to copy a word with dbl-click because the context menu appears (you have to choose "Copy-copy text only" from the context menu instead of doing "right-click-copy")

Best extension I've used by Bryan H, Thursday, January 26 2006 It is absolutely phenomenal and I use it all the time. Tremendous time saver. Only two issues 1) It would be great to see some nice, easy customization. Similar to how you can add/remove search engines to and from the firefox search toolbar 2) Sometimes when I want to just plain copy text from a website, it's annoying to have the full menu come up. This may simply be a fact of life when using hyperwords and, if so, is not a major issue.
